Physio Pilates & Strength Classes

Female on pilates reformer being instructed by male physiotherapist

Pilates is a great way to build body awareness, strength through controlled movements, endurance & fitness, muscle tone, flexibility, balance and improve overall posture. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Pilates exercises are often performed on equipment such as a reformer or on a mat using bodyweight and devices to add more challenge (resistance bands, weighted balls, magic circle, fitball).

Strengthening through resistance exercises (body weight, resistance bands or free weights) has been proven to:

  • increase muscle strength, protecting your joints

  • reduce risk of injury

  • increase mobility and flexibility

  • increase balance and reduce risk of falls

  • assist with weight management

  • increase bone density, reducing the risks of osteoporosis

  • improve sleep quality

  • prevent or manage chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis

At Kinima Physio, our experienced physiotherapists combine the benefits of both methods to create programs that align with your goals. Your goals are discussed in an initial physiotherapy appointment which allows the therapist to perform necessary assessments to tailor your program. The exercise program will be delivered on an easy-to-use mobile app and your physiotherapist will recommend these classes if appropriate.

This is a great option for those wanting to return to exercise in a safe manner or for those who require more supervision with specific goals (injury prevention, muscle recovery, enhance performance). These classes help to bridge the gap between your physiotherapy hands on sessions and keep you motivated and moving forward.
